New idea inspiration - water colour

It's been a while since I blog last time. I've been really busy with work and family :)

I'm interested in trying new idea for Forget Me Not and it's water colour! I never learn to paint or draw through education so I know my technique and knowledge in the proper design is not that great. But I love stationery and cute drawings and I'm definitely interested in water colour.

I have a daily journal by Frankie Magazine and it has such a cute and beautiful design. One of my treasured purchase that I enjoy everyday. Some of the illustrations are done by water colour and they inspire me to do similar thing.

They're so cute right? Anyway, a friend of mine named Hans also inspire me. He did a water color design with Photoshop when he did a job for my bro-in-law cafe Brownbag. He taught me a bit but I definitely need more practise. It's hard to do water color in Photoshop =/ 

His girlfriend did a beautiful job with the real water color paint and she encourages me to try it first. So equipped with the beginner's water color tools : some paints and brush, I gave it a try. This is what I came up with.

The bird is created with water color paint, scanned and edited in Photoshop.

Please don't laugh at it >.< I know it looks like a kindergarten's work =D but surprisingly, I like it! I definitely want to learn more about it and try it again. I hope I will have the time to do it since we're always overwhelmed with work. Doing the drawing makes me calm and peaceful. 

  

Tribute to the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy's victims

When I read about the tragedy that happened at Sandy Hook Elementary school at New England, Connecticut during my breakfast, I was deeply saddened. I could not imagine the horror and shock that the victims and their family experienced. I could not understand the reason why all those very young children have to go through something like this. No body can understand. No body can accept. It is not something that can be understood or answered. 

What's more tragic is the fact that it happened in December which is a month where most people feel happy because we are preparing for Christmas and New year. We decor our home, preparing for Christmas lunch and dinner, counting down the days until the New Year party. There are many activities held such as bazaar, market, Christmas carols, performances and many more. We wrap our presents for each other and put them under the Christmas tree. It is very sad, that for victims' family those presents remain unopened.

Let us pray for the victims and their families. Let us remember them forever in our heart regardless whether we know them or not. I'm thousand miles away from them but I feel their grief. I pray so that God will give the victims' family the strength and support they need. I believe the victims are happy now in heaven with their heavenly Father.

Blogging your way boot camp :)

I decided to join Blogging Your Way Boot Camp which is an online course done by Holly from http://decor8blog.com/ to help improve my blog and take it to a whole new level =D

I used to think that blogging is just for those with a lot of spare time but these days, I realized that blogging is an important tool in business. A lot of business that used to only have a website for their company now have a blog too. I found blogs are like a casual way to link with your customers and potential customers. They are less formal compared to a company website which usually is kinda stiff and unfriendly (don't get me wrong, there are a lot of customer friendly websites nowadays). It's just a friendlier way to connect with your customers :)

I had my blog especially for my line of stationery. I have used it to show customers if they want to see the kind of products that I do and I have referred them to my blog quite a few times. For me who just start, blog is a very important tool and because having a website usually cost quite a bit and I don't have that kind of money to spend on having a proper website. Besides that they're free, I also like the way that blog is very easy to update whenever I have something new coming up or to share. 

But I definitely realized the potential of blog and since I haven't really concentrate on my blog that much I feel that there is a lot more potential that I could get from my blog to help with my business. So I enrolled my self in Blogging Your Way Boot Camp by Holly to help me improve my blog so I can make it better, use it better to connect with my customers and to improve the sales :) 

Remembering 'Forget Me Not' - my inspiration

This is Molly my 1st ever dog. She's a Welsh Pembroke Corgi. I got her when I was still in University in Perth, Western Australia in 2006. 

Her actual name is 'Parkway Forget Me Not'

This is where I got the inspiration for my brand. It probably sounds a bit cliche to some of you :) But I think the name reflects the purpose of my products which are personalized stationery and notepads. They are used to send messages for loved ones on special occasion  such as birthdays, weddings, anniversary, etc. 

It's a way to stay connected and remember the ones we love.

It says do not forget me = Forget Me Not :)

The sad thing is that, I just lost her a week ago. She was only 6 years old. She has a tumor that caused bleeding and the vet could not stop it regardless what they did. I felt very sad, depressed because I just lost a best friend. She's been there throughout the stages in my life. She was the one accompanying me when I was still studying, she was the one there during my pre wedding shots, during my wedding.

She was there with my during my morning sickness when I was pregnant with my 1st child. She played with my son, with us. She gave us so much joy.

My darling Molly is not with me anymore in physical sense but I believed that she's still with me in spirit. I'm glad that I have my brand to remember her by :) Now I have her 3 daughters with me and although I still missed her terribly I believed I have to move on with my life. But I will never forget her. My darling baby girl. I love you very much.

New logo and look for Forget Me Not Stationery!

I'm so excited to share to all of you the new logo and look of Forget Me Not Stationery! After a few years I feel that the brand needs a new logo that reflects more on what we sell and specialized in.

The new logo include a cute elephant and this is used because of Elephant's great memory which is related to the name 'Forget Me Not'. Also, if you look closely at the elephant, you can read FMN (short version of Forget Me Not)! Brilliant huh?

A little tag Personalized Stationery is also included to explain more about what we do. A new color is also chosen to give the brand a bit of refreshment and I love the colors! They're such an elegant combination.

she asked me to create a little baby dragon.
